I have fitted two 12v sockets in the rear of my t2. The are fitted into the cover of the offside brake light cover the one that lifts off to get at the rear of the lamps. One socket is always live and the other comes on with the ignition. I use the ign one for my coolbox and the other for a spotlight on a lead. If I knew how to add photos I could show you or you could pm me and I would email them. I got the ciggy sockets from the scrap yard...

I have picked up the wiring from the towing circuits and have put inline fuse holders as you can see in pic no2. The ign socket picks up the feed for the caravan battery charging circuit pin 6 on 12s socket and the other from the always on circuit pin 4 on 12s socket. I picked up my supply from the wires on the way to the sockets. If you dont have 12s socket the you would need to run cables from say rear of ciggy lighter and direct from battery, through in line fuses of course....bri

Later models, my 2001 Mk3 for instance have a cig lighter 20amp supply in the offside boot area and one in the rear of the centre console too.
