Hm, a semi-productive day at best.
Changed the fuel filter without any issue, but the 'elusive' mini filter was another matter...I heeded the advice in the technical download to keep a close eye for a spring when removing the banjo bolt. Not only wasn't there a spring, there wasn't a mini filter!! I did some persistent, but cautious fishing, but nothing, nada, zilch. To cap that, when I reassembled everything, there's a leak around the banjo bolt. The bolt was done up very tight by the previous owner and in the end I had to remove the power steering pump to get the bolt undone. So, tomorrow I will dismantle things to get back at the banjo, tighten it further and then I hope to get away on my trip (albeit one day late). |

Progress!! Got at the banjo bolt, tightened it and have a good seal.
Time to pack the tent, rods and rifle and then crack a cold one. Away to the Howard Valley early in the morning, so will post some pics on my return at the weekend |

This filter is not always on the front end of the pump, I have come accros varients where it has been on the fitting to the rear, and of course it may already have been removed, Rick

I've never seen one on the back of a pump yet and I've done a fair few now on my car and others

The filter is usualy on the outlet/return to tank pipe but this is not always on the front, depending on pump, I did a picture set of removing and cleaning one some time ago on here and it also had a shuttle valve and metering orifice all part of the banjo bolt assembly screwed in horizontally from rear to front, think it was a Zexel but cannot remember, Rick

its also worth looking at the fuel feed pipe that runs at the back of the engine bay,the banjo to the filter housing wont let large dirt particles though to the filter and backs up in the pipe,on one old farm maverick i blow the pipe out with a compressor and a foot long sausage of shit came flying out don`t know how it kept running

Photos of trip
Hi all,
Has taken me a while, but there are a few photos of the trip in an album I've just created. The hut in the pics is at a similar elevation to the summit of Ben Nevis and the temperature/wind chill made the night 'character forming'! |
