If you do any work on it yourself you won't get anything from them, as they can then turn round and say "you caused it". Unless it was sold as a "trade" car, meaning it was sold within the trade, then you have rights. |

Did you only notice the smoke/steam only when the engine was hot?
Has the coolant level dropped in the coolant expansion tank? Looking at how the set up is on these vehicles. If she was to put the heater control knob onto cold, would this stop the steam as the matrix would be covered by the flap only allowing cold air to pass |

Heater Matrix is a dashboard out job, it's not really hard it's just time consumimg and remember in what order you took stuff out and how well you lay your screws out etc etc
The Matrix itself is just a few bolt and two pipes if I remember correctly? I'd expect a bill for a few hundred quid to get a job done like that by a garage, if it was mine i'd attempt it myself but I'm a nutter and don't rely on it for a school run I'd take the advice of the CAB, don't take any crap from the garage, they must have some accountability!!!! What year is the car by the way? Did you buy it on eBay?

Muppets! Send it back to them, get them to fix it or give you your money back. Consumer Rights Act, innit? Whether it's their problem or not is for them to debate. How the hell can they accept a car in P/ex if they don't know its condition? Lying muppets!!! What I can guarantee from your story is that it's not your problem! |

Does it have Air Con? was it on at the time? I had a motor fill up with mist once cos the AC was on when it should not have been, heat from the heater made AC evaporator condensation "evaporate", which was then blown into the car, had to stop quick as all the windows misted up and could not see, Rick

Had smoke coming out of the vents in my fathers car once - turned out to be aftermarket radio, 2 wires shorting and started smouldering.
If smoke, you'll be able to tell: it stinks like burning plastic! |

Still waiting for the machanic to come he was supposed to be here Tuesday started it today was ok for about 15 mins then smoke appeared again.no fans on no air con on.everything turned off.lad over road who messes around with cars is going to have a look Saturday or Sunday for me if this machanic doesn't turn up. The thing that's confusing me it doesn't smell.been told 100,000 miles on one of these is nothing .there's no smoke coming out of exhaust even when I rev it so that's a good sign I think. was going to post a picture of the car but don't know how to.got a print out from consumer rights saying I'm entitled to a full refund if I return the car within 30 days .but I want a terrano .cheers
