banshee In this weather I envy your indoor job.

I think terrano 2 it is, i do like the sound of the 3lt but such similar towing weights that wont matter.

I do really like the all black interior in the 04/05 models and the blacked out headlights so im on the hunt for one of those, and the green color looks pretty good with some black wheels at 32 AT tyres.

One question did the swb commercial ever come with a bulkhead? As ideally I would like to fit one along with window mesh for safety as I live in a city.

Also what roof racks do you recommend as I use a rhino pipe tube to hold my walling pins.

Cheers again lads.

Do you guys ever meet up for greenlaning or offroading?
It doesn't unfortunately mate but the guards can be picked up relatively cheap and come up now and again on eBay, what's harder to find is the genuine Terrano polystyrene load levellers and rubber floor mats but I have 2 spare lucky for you If you need them they are yours

As for window mesh, there doesn't seem to be anything off the shelf for the Terrano, last one I saw was a white one in the rear of a Red SWB Commercial that belonged to the Isle of Man Electricity board, I went to the efforts of phoning them and asking for their vehicle maintenance guys and it turns out that they had hit a brick wall finding an application for the Terrano too so they'd made their own and welded them in

I'm speaking with a guy in Derby at the moment though who thinks that he may be able to fabricate me something for £30 a unit so hang fire, I want mine first

If you get a SWB, the LWB roof bars can be fitted with a tiny bit of chopping from the angle grinder, allowing the whole length of the roof to be utilised, I did this on my old SWB Maverick but haven't got round to doing it on my Terrano yet, so many wants...................

We sure do bud, I've been down south 3 times this year for laning weekends with the guys

Not so many places to offroad in Scotland, I'm a member of a site at Bridge of Earn but apart from a similar site at Glasgow (I think) that's about it

http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/2004-54-NISS...ATCHING_ACTIVE

going to pick this up monday afternoon so longs as its not a rust bucket. Its a bit expensive but the green color is great and it has all black interior so im sold. Fsh helps too.

Banshee. Ill take those foam levels that sounds ideal, how much are you looking for them?
The terranos near bacup ( I know what a funny name eh) so could maybe just come pick them up if not to far?

Im going to get a full rhino roof rack and tube carrier setup as its pretty cheap and I plan on keeping this.

Barrbeast- let me know when your going off roading next as im up for that.

Now whos best for insurance and what tyres do you guys recommend?

Im thinking yokohama geolander ATs? Or worth getting others?

Yeah nice looking truck, fixed front hubs too so no need to worry about the autolocking hubs. Front propshaft and drivershafts are driven by the wheels all the time on the later ones. This can cause wear on the uj's and cv's, the front drive shaft has a sliding joint that can wear too. This causes a hum and vibration that builds after about 40mph, easy to replace propshaft though. Happened on mine and at least one other member on here around similar time as mine.
Check the lcd display in speedo cluster, can lose segments. People have fixed those on here too with a simple soldering iron.

Both have pros and cons, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Hi Bud,

Welcome to the forum

Just one word against the T2 - RUST !

Check, check and treble check underneath for rust - chassis, cross members (the one that holds up the radiator, seat belt anchor points, floor etc), the front wings are favourite to rust under the plastic trims and they are like rocking horse doo doo to get second hand, so plastic is an option. But I am sure that others will point out where to look. The link that you posted, that looks nice and tidy from above.

I see it has got the man steps...

I got mine as a family hand me down as he could not drive it any longer. I used to have a Toyota HiLux Surf which I loved, had to sell that along with my Honda Super Blackbird CBR1100xx when I went self employed

I nearly love my T2 as much as my old Surf

Anyway enjoy your new ride what ever one you get, there are plenty of guys on here that will assist if you need to know anything

Steve

Early 3.0 Trol, that's the danger age for the 3.0 Trols...

Not all of the early 3.0s were bad but a lot of them were as the engine design wasn't quite up to scratch (it was improved 2003). You could be fine as there are a few guys on here with early 3.0s but it is a risk bud
