You'll just have to wait, I would suggest setting expectations nice and low. That way you'll not be disappointed.

A bit more done today, or more like thinking out loud.
I need a table area in the awning area a the side of the vehicle for drinks or book or food, but not a dining table.
I came up with this but am not sure which is the way to go.

Uses some bolts to support the table.

Uses the chain from the barbecue tripod, it's a little less stable (i might be able to work on this though).
Thoughts and opinions welcome.

Is this a multi function BBQ/table.
Have you thought about something like the window trays they use in the states. uploadfromtaptalk1437927780816.jpg

Interesting idea. I've started looking at things that have a dual use so that weight & space is being saved.
If the weather picks up this week I'll put the awnings on with the awning room just to see how it'll all bolt together. And obviously take some pics.

How about a table that hooks over the rear wheel should be around the right height when sitting in the awning

I'm still having a mare regarding the table and haven't come up with a decent solution yet. A bit of nice weather wouldn't go amiss in order to set things up to see how it all functions.

Unfortunately the awning room sits over both wheels that would prevent that, but worth looking at for just the awning.
I finally fitted the base and the two slide out sections yesterday (photos to follow).

But today, in between showers, I replaced this:

with this:

A much more aesthetically pleasing light with the benefit that I can swing it out to work as a light over the cooking area.

All the wiring is on show at the moment until I live with the build for a while and decide what I need connecting and what I want; then it's on to project leisure battery.

I've still got to make the new bed platform which, if it works, should be the bit I'm most impressed with.
Tie down need to be sourced.
Water pump is ready for installation.
I've found someone who should be able to make the barbecue bowl for a reasonable, but still not cheap, price.

And it should all be ready for Christmas...

Bits all bolted together and all set up while the sun is shining, and here it is. I don't like the rear awning as it is. I'm not sure whether to spend money on adapting it or going for a made for task rear awning.
The tent is only a single skin and has gaps on the car side, not a problem in the summer but potentially a problem in the winter. You could, although, put a pop-up tent inside for a bit of extra protection.

Table sort of works but could be improved. Using the tripod from the barbecue for resting post food drinks. The new barbecue make an excellent firepit for keeping warm on the chilly British evenings.

Access from the car to the tent area and I could make a table that attaches to the rear wheel. I will investigate this.

All I need to do now is find an extrusion for the second awning. Unfortunately the guys that sold me the outfit negleted to tell me that you can't have the tent mounted at the same time as the second awning eventhough this was something I specifically asked for. Fortunately I have found these guys http://www.keder-rails.co.uk/ who should be able to help me find a more suitable extrusion. Or a zip.

Everything packed away nice and tidily, except the barbecue. Fortunately I have a plan. All in all it took about 10-15 mins to put away.

New bed base is taking shape, still a good few rough edges but it seems to work.

Biggest problem is that the bed only measure 170cms long and I'm 183 cms. I have a solution but need to find something to do with the extra pieces when not being used as a bed.
The restriction in length is due to the length of the bootspace and the fact I don't want to remove the rear seats. This is supposed to be removable when not required leaving the car unmarked.

And the final(ish) part of the jigsaw....... The long awaited barbecue.

And the reason that it's bespoke.

Just sorting a couple of glitches and sorting out the fixings. But I'm happy, very happy with it.
Now to finish that bloody bed...

Ah, now I see. Very good idea. I'm interested to see how it looks after a few uses.

Thanks. I'm having a few problems designing the supports in a way that they can be used as barbecue legs too without taking an age to mount/dismount the bowl...

Not a V8, not anywhere near a V8, but it is something that I consider absolutely important.
I give you...

I realise I may have been over-egging the situation...

... but I kinda expected something a little more...

...exclusive???

But thanks for filling in the blank. Had still been wondering what you had ordered.

I did warn you about setting expectations nice and low to avoid disappointment.
I'm proper chuffed with the barbecue though, that should satisfy the exclusivity clause.

Pretty much the finished article.
Bed closed and set for running the car normally.

And bed out ready for a decent night's kip.

I'm well pleased with how it has all worked out and a neighbour, who's been watching progress, is quite impressed with how it all works. It takes seconds to open up and seconds to pack away.

The barbecue was tried this week and works perfectly as a barbecue, then thow on a couple of logs and it's a damn fine firepit to sit around as the evenings are getting cooler.

Time to look at getting away for a weekend.
