With out a trailer last week on the Mac challenge I was leaving everything behind on the hills, the Terrano has ample powert if you're in the right gear.
Very well said (I'd use the clapping smiley if I knew how to)

Seen as max towing speed is 60 you shouldn't have a problem then????

I have just got back from a weeks caravanning holiday on the Shropshire/Welsh borders near Bishops Castle. This was my second towing holiday and this time I took the advice posted by another member in another similar thread about keeping the engine revving and not being too eagre to get into fifth gear all the time. There's no doubt in my mind that this paid dividends on fuel consumption, especially on the twisty/hilly 50 odd miles of A roads from J7 on the M5 to our destination.

I have to admit that all the time I was fighting the impulse to change up earlier, which is where I have always assumed the best MPG lives, but the T2 performed much better. In fact I did 353 miles (105 miles each way to the site) and the rest solo touring around on about £75.00 worth of fuel, which I didn't think was to bad and around 21mpg average.

One thing I did do on the way home was get behind a big high sided HGV on the M5 doing about 54mph, which I am convinced saved loads of fuel.

Just to put it in context 21 isnt bad at all. My mondeo 2 litre petrol which was in good nick used to return around 25 towing a smaller van and the Terrano does it easier
