Have just watched it, great programme. At the end, the fast low run loud whistling Merlin was very emotional...

We were visiting the RAF Cosford museum years ago, en route to Iron Bridge.
Me and my son (aged 7) walked around looking at all the aircraft, while my wife and daughter did their thing.
As we looked at the planes, I noticed an old chap showing a father and son the cockpit of a Spitfire, they were standing on a raised platform.
So we slowly made our way to the steps and just stood watching, the old guy asked the father and son if they would like to sit in the cockpit, no thanks say's the father and they climb down.
"Is it possible for us to have a look PLEASSSSE" I ask, "yes come up" and like a shot we were up there.
Before he had finished asking if my son would like to sit in it, I had plopped him in and then came my time, this was a dream come true after years of watching these beautiful craft standing and flying. I grew up around Spitfires as they had a couple at Booker air park, near to where I grew up. Anyway, I slid in and closed the door, then was allowed to shut the canopy, It fitted like a glove and a wish had come true for me

If I had a spare £4500 to spend, I could have a ride in a Spitfire. Grace who is based locally is a two seater that flies about the area.
