Nothing at all on the blade, the "Solingen" and "W Germany" are on the blade side of the hilt, nothing at all on the handle.

The Scabbard also has "Made in W Germany" on it, but nothing else.

Hence the confusion, as there was nothing to look up.

Will do, like I say, because of his mental state, it's just what he remembers to put to one side, and then actually remembers to give us when he sees us, so we have no idea what will come along next, if anything.. although, I am pretty sure there is another big knife, we found when we had to move things for his special bed.

I will speak to the wife, re selling it, and let you know once she has decided what to do.

Sorry to hear about your situation though it's never nice

The thing is, he is now getting on a bit, and has many things wrong with himself including being wheel chair bound, so has recently starting to tidy a few things up and find new homes for bits and bobs before he departs from this world. I also think that some of the bits are hard reminders of how things were when all was well.

His son, is a full on church going, god fearing Christian, who does not approve of guns and knives, and stuff like that, so the Father-in-law has always kept them a secret from him, but now, with everything that is going on in his life, he has taken me in as his confidant, and is slowly getting me to remove the incriminating bits, so should anything happen, his son will never need to know about them. His daughter (my Wife) is a lot younger than her brother, so knew about most of the bits thank goodness.

Some stuff is just things like quality penknives, compasses, army spade, binoculars, that sort of stuff, that we have hung onto as I will use it. He recently decided that I needed one of his SAS style knives, and gave me a Dagger like thing, in scabbard that is designed to be strapped to your leg, and would result in a very quick trip to the local nick, if you just set foot outside the front door with it, and I was going to put it up for sale on Ebay, to get rid of it, but here is the problem, I have no idea what it is.

It's has Solingen and W Germany on the hilt the blade, but no other markings. I have had a pretty good look round on line, and the only ones I can find like it are Bayonets, rather than daggers, and have a slightly different hilt, for fixing onto the gun barrel. it's 300mm long, with 170mm being the blade. The blade is sharpened all along one side, and just half way along the other, and is a dark brown in colour, which is how it is meant to be.

Can anyone ID it for me?

Cheers
Hi. Sorry to hear about your father in law. E-bay won't let you sell a knife but I'm sure given the response on here you will have no problem getting rid of it.

Ahhh. Thanks for that.

I have seen a few on there, but what you say make sense now as some of the descriptions are a bit weird, and I did wonder why they seemed to miss out vital info.

sent from my phone, sorry for any typo's.
