Patrol has to be one of the most competent old skool 4x4 by far, straight out the box.
What size tyres are they? You may need to sort gearing if they're 35s
Enjoy

This is the kind of info and input I need. Those tyres are 37's. I am running a LC 80 series on 37's and the gears are 4.56's. What is the std diff ratios?

Thought they looked tastey
I cant remember as there are so many? I know the std SWB 4.2 diff was too low for 35s so I've changed to GU diffs.
I've got the ratios somewhere though. I'll have to sober up a bit and find them for you

Poor old Fez, I can see him now, throwing the rope over the beam, fumbling with the knot, tottering up the chair and muttering to himself

In fairness I have been after this Trol since May. It belonged to a friend who unfortunatly passed away and was subject to probate and eventually released to be sold by the trust with all interested parties invited to bid by sealed bids. Mine was obviously the highest and the one which was accepted.

Fez, is one of Team Wales and desperate to buy a SWB trol. Nothing coming up and he's too mean to travel
He'll be along tomorrow I guess to drool a bit

Ratios can be all over the place
basically standard on rd28 is 4.6 , rb30 4.3 td42 ute 4.3 or 4.1, td42 wagon 4.1,
tb42 wagon 3.9 and 4.1 apparently.
Borrowed that off the Aus forum I use. I've got complete GU axles and diffs for my 35s so now 4.6 ratio
37s will need bigger again I guess.
Big advantage of the GU axles is they have bigger callipers and discs. Also stronger CVs Pretty handy when thrashing about with 37s at the end of 4.2 litres of torque
