Also forgot to mention. There is no such thing as a tv detector van and never has been. This is just another scare tactic by your wonderful government.
Do you know anyone who has ever seen one or worked in one. |

And Yes I do know people who worked in them, as part of the technology was developed by student projects at the University of Kent, along with several radio amateurs, who were into the TV transmission side of things, and they would bring the vans up for development work, and testing. |

How could it detect where the tv is located in the house. The signal is picked up by a tv antenna then converted to an electrical signal which is then converted to sound and vision.
Also this would be undetectable if delivered by cable which is the most common transmission nowadays. Also there has never been one single reported prosecution as a result of a detector van. It's all smoke and mirrors |

This oscillator is not that well screened, so some signal escapes, and it is this signal that can be detected. The antennas for detecting these signals are directional, so a line can be drawn, reposition the antenna, and where these lines cross is the position of the transmitter. Hence your TV. So they can then tell you which room it is in. Depending on the frequency, it was said that they could tell what programme you were watching. BUT this was for the old analogue system, the digital system is different, but the principle is the same. Hope this helps. Briggie please feel free to update or correct any thing in my post. Best regards, Rustic

with a TRANSMITTER it is very easy to determine precise location , however with a RECIEVER it isn't so easy ,but basically what rustic says with regards to the IF , also quite easy to pick up the magnetic field from a line output transformer with the old analogue tv sets it was quite easy to detect a set being used , slightly more difficult with a digital tv , but still very possible , the question is do they have the technology and resources to do it ? ...... I leave that for you to decide |

and 6 months road tax of that is for the tv license, its funny i don't remember taking a test to be allowed to watch the tv, that being said i also think, if likemany other people you pay for sky tv, cable tv etc. then you are already paying and should be exempt from the license, i have none, not even an aerial connected on the roof, i stream everything off the net or watch dvd's, this means i dont need a license as i don't watch live t.v and tbh even if i did i doubt i would pay for it being as there is nothing but shite on it anyway, my way i get to watch what i want when i want
