Well done, for 18 years, I have regularly been doing the same to my 95 Mav, and I am now really reaping the benefits, it is still pristine.
Wings like new, no rust, no bubbles.

How did you paint those bumpers? they look great.

The problem with mud is that unless you really power wash off ALL the mud from underneath, from inside the wheel arches, off the front chassis cross member, and the front bumper out rigger, them that area will always be damp, and will encourage the tin worm.

The other issue is that of roadsalt, after salt spreading, how often do you wash all the roadsalt off from underneath? So far I've done mine about 4 times this winter, so I must be reallly sad.

more like investment, 10 minutes here and there all added together is probably less than the hours spent repairing the outcome of all that tin worm action.

The difference is... that I had the opportunity of starting the protection from day one, 18 years ago.
I have owned many cars, in the 70's and 80's that I was not the first owner, and one was only 3 years old, and both wings had rotted, I had a mini and the rear boot floor fell out, I thought then, I wished I had caught this problem earlier.

This is when I first turned to waxoyl.

So now you have got it looking that well keep it up.

Be aware, that on these cars another vulnerable area, other than the front wings is the floor behind the second row of seats, and the rear outer seat belt mounts.

There is a second thicker metal skin under the rear floor that magically retains the damp, and encourages the old tin worm.
Lifting the rear carpet might just show the extent of any damage.
The slightest bubble, will open out to a much larger area.

Several vehicles have this problem, and I would think that nearly all have some rust in that area, the problem is that the MOT don't remove carpets, and from underneath, it all looks solid, as the rust is taking place on the upper skin.

My mini was like this under the front carpet, the floor was covered in rust
Common fault with Minis, they were trying to go back to their ancestral origins of the stone age car. Remember Fred Flintstones car, with his feet through the floor.

Haha thanks fella, yeah I don't need the 3rd row of seats and when i was removing them i fely a scrutchy so knew it will need attention, from underneath its very thin. This and one of the sills will be getting a welder taken to it before MOT time

The paint was from my local motor factors, you dont need any primer its all in one, you just need to make sure there free from dirt and wax etc, but really easy and for £6.99 a big tin worth every penny
