if we really want to be silly ...... the stat has a spring in it ..... effectively a coil , so it will have inductance in it too

the stat may have a number stamped on it which indicates at what temp it opens

Cock, I mean the tamp sensor for the electronic thermostat thingy, ya know, so the ecu knows engine temp......I think there'd been a confusion

Ah ok then so you'd be looking for a reading of the temp.sender I guess but you still need to check the thermostat for physical opening at set temperature
