Not all banks are " That good" I had a phone call last July saying they were from the fraud department and asked about a transaction I had made ie. written a cheque for tens of ŁK.
To my dismay I had just deposited the same amount at my local branch and thought someone had tried to take it out. I put the phone down and went to the local branch. They had ballsed it up putting it through a credit slip as a cheque I was cashing to myself.Took 3 days to sort out, Now with another bank who are more cooperative. David |

good rule of thumb is dont use bank card for mail order, use a credit card
so acts as a buffer then cant drain current account.

Well off we go again, the feckers have been at it again. Got Ł1600 today, again more travel stuff including 2 tickets to Hungary. Poor wife was caused a lot of embarassment in a crowded supermarket. I was on a course and had to come home early so hence I failed it. This is just not on! the bank cancelled the flippin card a couple of weeks ago and they are still letting the sods use the cancelled card. Now the bank can not do anything until Monday so we are stuffed without cash until this gets cleared up. I'm going to demand compo from them now as this is not right when we have done everything right.
Jim PS still don't feel any better for sounding off! |

jim i use a pay as you go credit card for most things, it can be a pain going to the shop to top it up but..... theres never anything on it unless i want to spend over the internet..
if your money keeps going you might be left with no choice but to use a different bank, well thats what i would be telling them on monday |

Spill the beans Jim, which bank is it?
I just had a shouting match with the Halifax 'cause they no longer allow me to express clear a cheque on payig in They said they've reduced the clearing times to 5 days instead, ballocks I used to pay them a tenner to do it in a day. Now they'll be trying to charge me for overdraft as my moneis aren't cleared. Bloody plonkers, I'll be leaving them as soon as it's cleared |

Just arrange a temporary overdraught with them, then they won't charge you.

Apparently no fraudulent transactions had taken place (so how did they know my card had been cloned?) I bank online so I checked all transactions for the past two weeks and the only items were 3 local supermarket purchases, 2 from iTunes and 2 from Amazon (ring any bells jims-terrano?) My guess is that the culprit is Amazon, so it will be either no purchases from them, or credit card only. The bank is sending me another card which will allegedly arrive in 7-10 days, problem is I am off to Spain on Wednesday, and I use my debit card for all cash withdrawals and diesel purchases when over there. When I explained this to them they said they would block the card for internet purchases only, meaning I could still draw cash and make purchases. That being the case, how do they know whether it's my card or the cloned one being used? Just about to recheck my account to see if anything else suspect has gone through. B'stards!!! |
