No reason why it should unless the tester can prove it evidences a fault that in itself is failable?

Talking to a mate who doe's mot's, says there is more of this crap in the pipeline, so looking like the cost of our mot is about to go up..

The chip thing just needs a small amendment to the RTA to allow it become part of the MOT. The directives usually come first, then the local country laws are amended to fit. I don't think we are likely to see it TBH Liam; what the EU rule says is that, where chipping is illegal, it should be tested for at MoT. Chipping itself has not actually been outlawed per se by the EU, just in some countries.
