If this was BarryBoys I'd be requesting a screen cap of even that LOL

wow, well thats 50% faster than when i use another test

ie broadband speedchecker, to be fair thats saying 3008 kb/s
and upload of 501 kbs/s which suggests they are equal, perhaps
equally fudged. but nice suprise as whatever last time tried
was about 2Mb/s.

not great but fine for bit of surfing and this district doesnt get
cable.

Ok for those that dont understand connection speeds....

I will say it simply as I am tired lol..

There are 8 bits in a byte which means when calculating your broadband actual download speed you would devide your advertised connection speed by 8..

Example, my 50 meg broadband devided by 8 is 6.25

I get EXACTLY 6.25 MBPS download rate

Simples

I hope you now understand connections, so for those who say your dont actually get 50 Meg, you do, but due to how actual download speeds are calculated you wont actually download at 50 Meg. To download at an actual 50 Meg would mean you needed a 400 Meg connection

well...I dont use anything special TBH, but i regularly get silly fast speeds. I use uTorrent client, and generally btJunkie to source my files.... Of course I always try to download from the high seed files.

exactly Gav, a 50Mbit connection like you have, is capable of downloading at 6.25 MegaBYTES/s. A 20Mbit will equate to 2.5MB and so on...

Well you're both right of course, but its entirely theoretical due to the effects of ISP throttling, server restrictions, general internet latency yadda yadda yadda.

I mean put your hand on your heart and tell me your download speeds don't get seriously whacked from mid-afternoon onwards when the US gets online? Of course they do...bigtime as we all know, so in the real world, even if you do manage to achieve those download rates (which I seriously doubt in most cases unless you're downloading from a fat server with massive pipes and nobody else connected) it won't be for long.

I've spent the last 20 years listening to IT techs telling me what things 'should' be doing while I have to explain to the client why it isn't LOL
