When I bought our r3mR our existing insurer would not cover us as it was an import, being up against time Adrian Flux was the only company that would cover us as it was an import so online quotes would not work.

It wasn't cheap but when the pressure was off the following year I got cover from NFU at for less - they treated it pretty much as the closest model a 5 door Terrano after consulting the underwriter who added text to include the VIN number.

That said I never made a claim with Adrian Flux so never really found out what they were like in such circumstances. Ted

All I can say to that is through no fault of ours (just a change of vehicle) they scammed us for £180 for just over two months cover, never to be forgiven, Rick

For that I would not use them again I assume they would not cover the change of vehicle at a fair cost so it was a polocy cancellation situation..

I went with Modified 4x4 insurance UK 0800 6444406, commuting to work, 5k miles, £100 excess listing shock/springs/tyres and a turbo conversion for £295.

The office sent me an Email quoting their terms and conditions, that is all, have not checked the bank yet for the refund, but bet it will be weeks before I get it, Rick

The turbo is still in the Volvo V40 at the moment, I will have to check the spec and see if it will work ok with the 2.4 petrol. The compression ratio should accept more than just a little boost and hopefully increase the mpg when cruising. It will have to wait for my Tax rebate in April though.

Well at the end of the day renewed at £330 for the year but on change of vehicle, they could not get any where near that price so cancelled, ended up costing around £180 for just over 2 months cover, total rip off, complained but just referred to terms and conditions, total crap, rip of merchants, got both motors covered for £630 no problem so my advice, stay clear, Rick

Sounds like a rough deal you’ve had mate. Insurance is a license to print money for themselves which ever company. At least you’re a winner in many other ways Rick.
