Wouldn't be connecting to anything else except the chassis, existing holes at the rear of the wheel arch would only be for extra support. You can actually see the chassis bolt holes I'd be using in Makeitfit's pic - the two bolt heads near the end of the chassis rail (just shows they didn't change much on the basics when they designed the Y61s!).

It's not under stuff there bud, it's actually the metallic body paint. It'll get a clean to take the mud off but I won't be doing anything else until I know what I'm doing with the corners (black hammerite will probably be used though).

Sounds good dude, the only worry is how soft they might be, can't you run a full square bar across the rear, so perhaps not a curved bumper like mine but similar to makeitfits front bumper with some shaped edges?

I'm getting far too excited about this

the tow eye is ripe for filling the recess with good high amp weld to give it the strength it needs.

Whether it's a full length bar or just corners the problem is still gonna be that the chassis attachment potentially stops at those bolt holes I've identified. If I'm putting a nato hitch in the centre of the rear chassis bar I don't want it projecting out too far as it'll get in the way when I'm using the tow ball - that's why I don't want a rear bar.

If I cut the body back a bit that would give me access to the chassis further round the corner but I've got a feeling it's double skinned there so I'll need to weld a plate in to fill the gap.

Remember Pete's is just bolt on corners too

It could be a while before I do anything about it as I'll ideally need to get a welder and learn to weld first!

Did think about that bud but I've kinda lost faith in it after reading into it on the Trol forums... also nato hitch is already ordered

ive got the same problem as where to connect my new bumper to the chassis(when its made)I want to bolt it just behind the rear wheel to give the corner some support.
there are 2 m8 captive nuts that hold the bit of tin to the edge of the standard plastic but not much for strength.
other option would be to clamp around the chassis with some thick plates.
