I agree but as I said this is not the pinch bolt you slacken off when doing the lift its the one on the shaft.
all I can think is that it wasn't seated correctly and the lift has caused it to become under pressure and pull it off the shaft. I was devastated when alex told me last night. |

When we spoke on the phone about this I did try and explain about the bolt passing into a groove, your pic shows it perfectly, the bolt has to be removed completely to get to the state in your pic, when you did your body lift if you did not remove that bolt it could not have been fitted correctly in the first place, as Rustic says there is no way that can come apart even if the bolt was loose, I will be looking at my scrapper for info, but as we both know yours is a later model and there are differences, Rick

Just checked mine.
Slackened off both bolts and made sure the one on the power steering box is seated properly.even with the bolt loose it won't come off the shaft as it's sits in the groove on the shaft. Lock tite on the threads also for piece of mind. |

I think some of the previous comments a little harsh but then again not to be ignored.
I'm a big fan of modding these trucks as you may know but being hands on is a benefit. That said I'm not in the Alex bumper fan club As for mot I'm not aware yet of the mods done that would cause an MOT fail ! My own fall back has always been that the insurance company are aware of all the mods I've done. My trucks have passed their MOTs with the mods in place. Rear arb removal will obviously extend articulation but has very little effect on road handling. The front does most of that. Front bush gone on Alex's arb is amongst the most common failure of the forum threads on std trucks , so nowt unusual there. Get it fixed obviously. The re-sale price of the truck will undoubtedly have gone down from std ones but not the value to Alex. This could indeed have been a nasty accident and the offending fitting luckily found before injury but as said before guys, it must have been fitted wrong before the lift. The steering colum/shaft thing is at quite a shallow angle , probably about 25 degrees ish. The bolt slacking is mainly to allow the body to be lifted higher than needed to get the spacers in and then it settles back to a position very close to it's original. About 5mm I reckon. Without going all Pythagoras Any road up, some valid comments and some harsh but in the end no one got a bloody nose. Once you're back from buying those lottery tickets Alex, have an hour or so checking your nuts eh Then make sure your truck is safe |

Alex i had a leak from my pump just like yours. I chucked a couple of cans of engine oil stop leak in the tank after 200 miles the leak had stopped right or wrong it worked.

Howdy all, good news all sorted at work, and yes all comments are taken on board.
Rustic - you are a lovely dude and have your heart in the right place but please know I am aware, it does aggravate when some of the comments are made, even though I'm sure you mean with good intention. Anywho on a plus note work have lengthened it out of the bulkhead. They still want me to get another donut anyway but this wont come apart. |
