Red face My 1997 2.7 Diesel Maverick

I am 62 and from Harrow in Middlesex. I like Mavericks. My first (1995 2.7 5-door diesel) I bought in 1996 and drove for 19 years. My second was identical to the first - bought in 2018 but died in 2019 because I was unable to access a replacement radiator and fan. I still have it. If anyone knows of a source for those parts, or would like to buy it as it is, I would love to hear from you.

My third is a 1997 2.7 5-door diesel which I bought last year in excellent condition with remarkably low mileage. It was going brilliantly until yesterday, when I pranged it. Because of its age it is likely to be written off. However all it needs is a new front bumper, bonnet, offside front wing and radiator. So does anyone want to sell me these parts, or know where I might get them? Alternatively does anyone want to buy my vehicle in its current condition (which apart from the above is very good!) - it could be a rich sources of scarce parts.

Bumper, wing and radiator I might be able to help with, pic of the bumper would help as there are variants, had a bonnet but sent it to the scapper with last one, Rick, but think you will need to pay your tenner to upload a pic

Aim to get stuck and be completely self sufficient in extraction, love getting muddy, 2ft deep is good but rare.

I would be interested in buying the car as it stands, is it drivable? My 2.4 is poorly at the moment!

Solarman216. On reflection it may also need a new front panel which incorporates the lights (don't know what that is called). Also, do you happen to have a radiator and fan for the 1995 model?

Mike Wallace. It is not driveable any distance because of the hole in the radiator and I cannot even open the bonnet to try to top it up.

The front you are talking of is not a bolt on item, it is part of the main body, not sure of the radiator I have it could even be a petrol, it is hanging high up on the workshop wall been there a long time, will get it down and have a look, the fan blades I have several, the viscous coupling on the 2.7 is part of the water pump, but readily available, Rick

Could you not take the parts from the other Maverick you have?

I'd snap that up Clive!!!! Pretty hard to find the Maverick round headlight bumpers for yours now never mind with the extra plastic nudge bar extra, that will respray nice and look the part on yours

Most you will find if any will also have the 50/50 paint and plastic design which is very hard to get even colours on when you get a respray done

Well done Rick
