Wireless Tyre Pressure Sensors
Hi,
Not sure of the wireless range but could be useful as a early warning of trouble if the range works from a caravan or trailer for those that have them. http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/TPMS-Wireles...904?nav=SEARCH |

If I put them on mine and went in the house for ten minutes all the kids round our way would soon have posh dust caps on their push bikes

Dust Cap theft craze.
I had a really neat set of Mercedes dust caps that some one brought me back from the USA with a nice Enamel 3 pointed star on the end.
First visit to Tesco's Underground Car Park (It was raining) and they were all gone within a couple days of fitting them! My black Plastic ones never get nicked. |

Neat Idea, but on reflection, I have lasted this long without such gismos and if my pride and joy is likely to be nicked then I will carry on as always, Rick

To be honest if they're anything like the system on the Skoda I'll do without. The Skoda sensors give false warnings, in fact Skoda dealer told me to press the reset button and ignore the warnings. I did that once and suffered a flat they cry wolf

thinking about it they are most likely all to be on the same frequency (or near) so you overtake a goon with a low tyre and prob yours will flash up low pressure, no thanks I will stick with the old system, Rick

The caravan club are always advertising a unit that monitors the trailer tyres as well, e.g. all 6 tyres. I like the idea, but I have heard other people mention the "cry wolf" issue... |

TPMS's
The ones on my old Chrysler 300 CRD used to show actual the pressure in each wheel in P.S.I. and was very reliable it did warn me of a slow puncture as well so was impressed.
The ones on my Mini were the cheaper type that detect a difference in wheel rotation without giving any actual pressure it was forever putting on the dash warning light especially in winter as ice or gravel driveways would set it off. I think they just work off the wheel ABS sensors. |
