Default extreme raised air

ok the hose is in
the roof scoop is on

looking good so far, got hose from air box through the firewall into dash and up pillar to roof

just need to connect both ends in the morning

one observation , although it looks good and im well chuffed. its shit loads of work.

lucky i got new mot till jan 2010. cos the firewall bit will need disguising or plating over for the next mot

hope to lift it tomorrow with hb's springs and film the windows in solid red to look like a van

back to work sunday

oh im married... i just dont do christmas, i shall be out at first light and play with the truck ,,, as i will have got the kids up at 2 am tomorrow to do the presents.... its a win win situation

she gets a lie in, as the kids will be so knackerd from having little sleep before i wake them

i expect them all to get up about 10 or 11 i will have had half a day outside before that

humbug humbug humbug
(not that im miserable or nothing)

i have not seen a pretty snorkel for a mav and pipes with silicone hoses aren't either

i have....... its just on the inside .... the only visible bit is up the screen bar and the small scoop on the roof. i think there are advantages and dis advantages of this meathod

advantages
looks- you cant see it
colder air -
more air - as its forced up the windscreen

disadvantages
could get splashes in- so might need an in line vented water trap
bloody hard work

i do like the snokel idea just think they are a bit bulky and ugly

Best reason for it in my mind is it wont get ripped off by trees. Im not sure the air will be any cooler though or that you will have more air than an ordinary snorkel.

Default extreme air

first test drive today. its all connected and working fine.
no rain in yet so that's good

only problem is
as i used 1 single flexible pipe to make a continuous run. trying not to slow air down on the way in with joints

i will need to change this to a include a solid non flexible pipe up the windscreen post, due to the pipe rattling as air rushes in.
its a little noisy, only like having the blower on number 2 its not tractor noisy and in a van it wouldn't notice . but in something that's pretty quiet it might become annoying

suppose just teething problems

im happy with it... not sure id do it again though lots of work and little to show for it as its all quite hidden.

its very much 3 steps forward 2 steps back cos you have to move things or make parts all the time

total cost 53.00
