K.O.R.C has several high pressure jet washers.
Maybe something akin to this, would help to clear the radiator before the mud sets solid.Better than having a cooked head..

To be honest, looking at the covering of mud in the pics I would guess it was blasting through the mud at too high a speed that probably caused a lot of the issues rather than just the mud itself. Momentum is important but the crucial bit is not stopping (and therefore losing your momentum). A touch less speed (maybe a lower gear) might have stopped things getting quite so covered.

'course if you're heading into a bottomless pit like the ones Rick goes into then a rear mounted rad about the only answer

I like that

The site I go to has a free wash bed that always gets a visit before I go home... about the only regular wash the Trol gets

Quick update for you chaps, I have cleaned the radiator thoroughly, thought all was well went to get the cb radio today, after 20 mins of high speed driving I noticed the temperature gauge was creeping up again

So I arrive at the cb chaps house, he has a kitted 4x4 (Landy )

He asked the simple question... Have you checked the coolant

Whoopsie.... Below the minimum mark... sorry chaps...

Edit - oh, now all is fine...

but possible gasket damage done already only to raise it's ugly head later, sorry but that is how it develops over time, it is not good to go over temp even once, the head and block expand to amounts not seen before and damage is done even if not seen at the time or for some time after, you may be lucky and be OK but have done enough banger racing to know that lots of engines rarely survive a first overheat, the T2 engine is agreed much more robust but it is an engine with a gasket and can only take a certain amount of abuse, Leyland produced an engine without a head gasket in the 70's think it was called the fixed head 500, never blew a head gasket cos it did not have one but was a short lived engine fore other problems, but valve grinding meant a complete engine strip, block on the bench , Rick

Fingers crossed I've gotten away with it then

Who's got a spare engine anyway

I really have no idea how my radiator got so blocked...

My Maverick went into the red if you remember Rick when my thermostat failed closed, I had the head pressure tested and all came back OK however it was never right after that...... used more oil than diesel, I'm glad it was crashed into

I'd get your head tested Alex, then go and have a pressure test on your engine
