Default Freesat

Anyone here have freesat? been with Sky since they started (no cable on our street) and had enough of being ripped off with their price, been looking at freesat and you even get HD for free. :

Just wondering if anyone here knows anything about it.

Paul.

Freesat uses the same Astra digital satelites as Sky, so you use the same dish and direction. For a one off payment you buy the set top box and a dish to get the freesat channels, you'll probably have to pay for fitting. You also have the option to upgrade to Sky packages or so I'm told. I think it will be great for caravaning. Do a google search for it.

Our sky box asn't got HD, but if I can use the same dish then I can just get a freesat box and get free HD :

Going to have to look more into this, Sky is costing a small mint for the same shows over & over. 8O

talking of caravaning we use a flat screen tv with built in preview, and the Status type ariels of newish caravans pick up all the digital tv very well and no need to retune at every site. Though to be honest we dont watch Tv much at home or away it s usualy jst back ground noise so we can chat while our 3 year old is in bed.

I have never realy understood setting up a satelite dish and everything for a caravan, surely its more trouble than its worth?

I see your point but you have to cart all the kit around and have cables trailing around and then if you move the caravan or someone parks in front of your dish etc you need to start again or even kids playing in front or walking past.

I have seen people set all thjis kit up just for a couple of nights and surely its not worth the hassle, but hten each to his own, Im not criticising I just dont understand why. I suppose if you really wanted to watch some live event or something it would be worth it.

Those seem a good idea for a caravan.

Totally understand where your coming from about watching tv whilst away Plank especially for short stays and when the weather is good. You can go really posh and get a fully auto dish, just switch it on and it unfolds tracks and locks on to the signal. However you may need to win the lotto first :

Hi guys I binned sky last Jan. Since then we've downloaded stuff WE wanted to see. Saved it on the computer and watch when we want on the telly. No probs and its really good quality. Not HD but then tv not hd anyway.
PC sends signal to media router so no clutter in the lounge.

Only down side is that you don't get all the channels with it on sky that you do on free veiw + with the freesat you also get BBC1 & ITV in hd, only get BBC in hd on sky.
To buy a box with hard drive for freesat is only about £300, giving Shy more then that a year at the mo.
