eldiss typhoon

Hi all,-
been offered an Elddis Typhoon Van for the right money, anyone owned one? What weight is the van, and ultimately how would the T2 cope with pulling it. any advice/ tips greatly appreciated. not a total novice to caravanning but have only owned 12 or 13 ft vans.

No nothing about Elddis van but your Terrano will be fine pulling it, you will find more stops to fill up with fuel though!!!

as said wnot know its there, these trucks easily cope with upto legal uk limit of 7m. probably beyond too :roll:

one of best tow cars around, look round any site probably equal or more than landrover products. why even green flag may day had a couple to lend to members so they could complete their hols. praise indeed.

7m is the body length, not the shipping length. Ours is something like 6.3m body or shell length but once the drawbar is included it goes up to 7.8m. Perfectly lawful :wink:

I cant see you having any problems at all. I tow a 7.8m 1589kg twin axle Bailey with my T2 2.7.

Its a breeze

: and we can keep a constant 60 on most motorway inclines etc without any great hassle. We recently went from Ambleside to Conniston on a dark wet night and anyone who knows that twisty route will tell you its hard work.

spot on, thanks for locking that down. though most folks talk about body lengths when describing it, ie 16 footer means body, atleast in the uk and euro land, the yanks tend to alway refer to shipping.

all very useful.
difficult times at present as we all know, doom and gloom everywhere, but if still in gainful employment in 2009, gonna buy this van, shes a nice bit of kit.

hi wayne, hope everything goes well for you, they are nice vans, got elddis my self, well had a couple in the past as it happens, but the t2 should pull it with no trouble at all, all the best

yep the T2 is a great tugger..

Wife keeps saying slow down.. i forge the vans there,

oh well, got to collect after service saturday...
they found a crack in teh front panel so needs a new panel.
oh well such is life

i bought my van as a cat c/d , can't remember now, guy who owned it caught a post and it cracked front panel, the dealer i bought it from had a fibre- glass guy come and repair it, what a great job he did you can't see the repair, cost £175, or £850+vat + labour to fit a new panel.
