Visited gun club
So after all your advise, I decided to take a trip with the missus after work and go to our new "club to be" a long journey to have a chat
When we walked in at first it was like a scene out of an old western movie where you realise you have walked into a bar you shouldn't have "Oh crap" we though, but when we introduced ourselves someone took us aside and began a long and helpful chat, 2 hours later and some membership forms we were on our way We had a look over the range, met some friendlies, and learnt some laws, there are infact some big guns which are legal to shoot, so this cheered me up some what They also have a shotgun meet every nice in a while. Once we join next Friday we will have our work cut out, atleast one visit every week (3 days to choose from) for 3 months, and we must pass 2 training courses, mainly on safety and shooting practise Then once complete they will complete a firearms form with us and get our licenses rolling. Oh.. As long as they don't think we are mental P.s. Thanks all for your help and advise, you know who you are! |

As long as none of them look in on this site, you might stand a fair chance

Stop being obsessed with " big guns " as the cost of ammo will cripple your wallet. 308/762 are around £1 a bang. Think rimfire for your first ventures. David.

To correct the above, 7.63/ .308 @ £40/ 100 is average. A range visit will normally use 80 to 200. Rifle costs are a one off (we all think this to start but 3 is on the low side). David.

Once a month!!!! sorry but its addictive. You have been warned.
Most shooters have rimfires in the cabinet somewhere. You can pick one up for under £100,, but wait until you know more about what you want. What ever sight you put on it, peep or optics it won't be less than £200. Look on guntrader for comparisons. But hold off till you are sure which way you want to go in the sport, you may like black powder pistols and rifles. David. |
