He locked me out of my control panel and said he was going to dump the site completey if i did not use him anymore. The next few days will be very important to me.

contact the host company, you are the account holder so can have his account removed unless of course HE is the host in which case i would suggest a move of host if you pay him and the contract states he should make backups then he cant "dump" it, look at the SLA you have with him, its quite simple and there are a lot of hosts out there who will help one i used in the past for our response group was heartinternet the whole site can be moved to them if need be including the database so its safe and you can park the domain there too, they can also help out with the tech side but obviously they will charge a fee for that

http://www.heartinternet.co.uk/hosting-h.shtml

and no i dont work for them its just a good deal

Mav, the main problem that I can see is, that it appears that you don't own the domain name www.nissan4x4ownersclub.co.uk.

No matter what you do here, ultimately the guy who could pull the biggest strings and bring the whole site crashing down at any time is the domain name owner... even if you move the site to another server he could switch the DNS records in seconds which would effectively make this site invisible.

If I was in your situation I would have serious concerns right now and securing the domain name would be my number 1 priority.

Hello Bat21,
Just spoke to the man that started the club and believes that we had swapped them over.
I know i paid the yearly charges and got the reminders from the hosters.
I will check with them as i had an e-mail from them just a couple of days ago.
Thanks.
