hello from swansea area...
hi just bough a ford maverick swb on a R reg, and i have to say i prefer it to my 06 plate freelander. although the seats are good but not as nice as the landrover
on the plus side it does really pull away better than the guttless landy . its not noticeably more juicy than the landy , in fact i actualy think its cheeper to run , because the maverick has this lovelly whistling noise that tells you your throwing fivers out of the window. so i tend to drive it without letting the turbo go too much with the freelander the excelerator has to be in the ON possition to get it to move , so i think im saving money i paid 920 quid for the old girl as a trade sale from a garage, i prefer buying this way as they tend to let you have a good test drive and they seem to have less to hide, if they are crap they just shove them in auction . so you have won half the battle before you have started she is showing 138k which... ok its high , but it sounds sweet and its a big jap deisel engine with no smoke and pulls well if anything she is a tiny bit tappy when cold starting but its very tiny and will be sorted when i get it serviced she had really dull (white cloudy) red paintwork that has pollished up like new with a days work and a bottle of turtle wax so id say all in all a good buy. im even concidering ditching the landy and getting a lwb for the wife. the doughter bought a terrano from ebay a couple of weeks back in fact the same day i got mine , she wanted something for off roading up in the mountains with friends so she got one with big wheels and a winch etc, and she has said it goes everywhere, the first night out she blew a tyre off the rim, but she does drive them hard and they just have no fear at that age, i went out a couple of nights later with them and beleive me these kids can seriously drive . her only trouble is she has the winch and spends most of the time pulling vitaras and sj's out of the lakes . because we have found nothing too much for these terrano/ maverick's i will try and do some vidio's or pics to upload just please dont tell her where to get a snorkel....she will drown herself 8O |

How do & welcome, nice to find another one in Wales.
I'm up near Cardigan but my mother's in Swansea so we're often down those parts. Where about have you found for off roading round Swansea? Cheers |

hi , we go up to banwen and sennybridge area's , its where they do stages of the world rally champs uk (wales rally to us) its privatelly owned but we just go up there anyway. the police do stop and take your bikes off you if your cought so dont take bikes there but they dont bother with jeeps, i dont think they are equiped for chasing jeeps. the quad bikes that also go dont get bothered as they can go where police bikes cant. we have deep water mud and miles and miles of tracks most go from swansea neath area to brecon etc so very long dont be alarmed they do rent it out to off road clubs cars and bikes and it has everything you would want offroading. but i think they let clubs organisations use it due to the fact its then organised and less chance of people getting killed or injured. i could look into it if enough interest. or the club wants to arrange something  so why is there no chat room for live chat here, it seems an awfully slow way of doing things :?: |

Hi ex treme 4x4,I dont know much about chat rooms, but I dont sort of hang around here willy nilly. I get home and log on when time allows, check up any threads I'm watchin, say my bit and b**ger off to bed. Always had plenty of answers to queries, and I've got loads. So suits me. I've just been working round Brecon area and went over Epynt (rally area) Cool red mud and loads of lanes. If you can let me know where its at we've got a bunch of mates who'd be there in a flash. About 5 of us ready to play! Cheers |
