It might help if you open a command shell and try:
"ipconfig /flushdns"
without the quotes!

well it might have had an argument and stropped off to play with its mates and not told you where it was?..

Oh wait, its a car....

I bet if it was a nice shiny new Audi or Beemer the scuffers would be straight round....

Getting to work. I'll have to ride all the way, all of the days. Usually I ride 3 out of 4 and car/train the other 1. Now I'll have to ride all four. I have got a folding bike, but it folds quite big and I'm not sure I'd get on the train with it.

The problem will come when the lane between me and work/the train station is icy, it's like a skating rink, narrow, bendy, high hedges, no pavement or verge and everyone treats it like a race track.

So, there's a petrol auto for sale... I like diesel and manual, although I think the petrols are more powerful. The Handbook gives the auto doing MORE mpg than the manual! At 56 constant the Handbook reckons 22mpg for the manual and 25mpg for the auto. If I can find the torque figures comparing diesel to petrol I might go for the petrol. If I ever get this car back I could make it a proper offroader and go out to play in it... (cash permitting obviously).
Hi Karin,

So sorry to hear your new's Ive had 2 attempted thefts on an old land rover of mine and thats bad enough.

I havn't got a manual to refer to but mine patrols a diesel auto and the final gear/overdrive is higher than a manual so cruising revs is ridiculously low, about 1,800rpm at 70-80mph so it probably does do more mpg at cruising speeds. That said if your going to use it around town going to work and not on motorways it will be the same or a little more thirsty than a manual. On the flip side petrol is cheaper than diesel so you will prob end up better off!!!

Just make sure the auto box is good!!!! i got several quotes for mine and a full rebuild is approx £1,200 worst case scenario!!!

Good luck

Default My car stolen today

Just a quick tip regarding extra anti theft devices.
put HI - LOW BOX IN NEUTRAL.
Might slow them down a bit.

Can I just point out that it says in the handbook (for the Y60) to move the gearstick swiftly through the neutral position when changing from high to low ratio, and NOT to linger in neutral.

but as the hand brake is on the prop shaft leaving it parked in neutral is not going to be a disadvantage or cause damage but might just confuse a thief, Rick

THATS WHAT I MENT.
if they not used to hi/low box it may be enough to confuse them enough to abandon the theft.

I haven't had a chance to ring the council - will do it today. It's all going through the insurance, the courtesy car is coming today. I'm not expecting to see my car again, it's probably in a container now on the way to Africa.
