Default Hello! Be gentle!

Joined you forum as I need some info!

My names Dave and I'm a big fan of Nissans, but I only owe 2WD ones at the moment, so you'll have to be very kind!!!!!!!

My latest project is a Nissan Silvia (S12) for Road Rallying (mainly for rough off road events), turbo's are banned so the turbo engine has been replaced with a KA24DE (twin cam 16 valve version of the terrano's KA24E).

My problem is the KA24DE has an electronic speedo drive pinion assembly and I have a mechanical cable driven speedo, I'd like to know roughly how fast I'm going (it is a road car) therefore:-

Do Nissan Terrano II's have mechanical or electronic speedo's???

Probably more interested in 2.4 KA24E versions, but not sure!

Looking for a mechanical speedo drive pinion (the bit thats fitted into the gearbox and should drive a/the speedo cable).

Hoping Nissan love breeches the gap of 2WD and 4WD

I have just looked at my 95 T2 2.4 single OHC motor and it is cable drive to the speedo, so I guess the drive/cable and head could be fitted to your two wheel drive jobby, but did you use the Terrano box??, Rick

Cheers.

No terrano parts used, engine and box are out of a 240sx from the USA. It's an S13 chassis with the KA24DE, but knowing nissan they have alot of common parts across the range.

Very interested if anyone has a pic of one, or one spare going cheap.

Should look something like this one on the right (but with a lug for an M6 screw):-

Lug like this one on the right:-

The terrano box is a beast, I doubt if the speedo drive would be the same. Also the gear ratio in the rear diff and wheel size will play a bigger part in the final drive speed of the rear prop shaft.

I know what you mean regarding common parts.

In fact if you look at the Nissan parts site it gives part numbers, if they are the same BINGO

http://nissan4u.com/

Look up each car on here.
Good luck
Best regards, Rustic

Ratio not a problem the plastic gears are interchangable (or should be) and I have the right one for the diff I'm currently running.

I tried the Silvia one, but it's too long, that ones used in lots of 80's nissan from 720 & D21 pick ups to 300zx's.

Part numbers won't be the same as I have a electronic on, but want a mechanical one.

Cheers for the link.

Part nunmber is:- 32702 (standard Nissan identifier for speedo pinion assembly) 33G20 (20 will be number of teeth)

Looks like it's mechanical and retained in the same way, so might be worth a punt if someone has one spare.
