It runs OK on Vista. Mem Map works great with a GPS dongle (I prefer to use a 'hard wired' USB one, but friends also run Bluetooth connections).
Free download? .... that'd be nice! Mem Map is good, but isn't cheap. If you do a lot of laning, then it's certainly worth the outlay. There are "pirate" copies out there on eBay and the like .... but be very careful. You can buy the mapping in regions (think the UK is split into 6 regions on latest MM). Think its about £200 for the whole UK or £50 per region. Mem Map also sell it by bundling regions together e.g. I brought GB Central (northern England, Centrla England & Wales) - cos that's where I do my laning. www.memory-map.co.uk for full details

On my lappy plug gps reciever into usb port, start the memory map where you are and it picks up automatically.Use a invertor to power laptop as battery soons runs down.Set lappy so still working when screen is shut save damaging the hinges.

just a thought but i picked up a garmin quest for £100 in maplin last week, and it records where you go and how fast you go there, the best bit.......
it integrates seamlessly into Google earth. So when you get home, you upload the track and it shows you where you went! A mate had one when we went offroad on our bikes on Salisbury plain last summer - great idea. You can export the track to a file and save / import to autoroute too. All for 100 pounds. |
