Default Hitachi MAF

found this website as I am still searching for a NEW MAF for my Maverick (i have two cleaned up MAFs, but still think i need a new one)

Rick has one, for a Petrol..

dont know anyone local at all with a mav. annoyingly, mines the Hitachi, which appears to be less common than the cheaper Bosch unit. I do have my own spare, but they are BOTH old, and ive been reading up on MAf'sand apparently if they go faulty, a good clean may not actually revive it...so I need to buy a new one, or as you suggest try one from a 100% working engine!

If you are passing Kendal you can try one of mine...........have you unplugged yours to see if it makes a difference? they are supposed to be very reliable, I would have thought you would be unlucky to have two duff ones.... bri

actually, funnily enough i havent tried unplugging the wire, not recently anyway. ill try that once my tail pipe is fitted at the weekend. thing is though, ive been reading that they can go faulty after so many miles anyway, even if they look ok. its like my old CKP sensor issue, i tried three "used" ones all claiming to be good, but didnt get anywhere untill i fitted a brand new one!

i also read that a faulty MAF can cause idle issues, such as the one i have...

so my thinking is that yes, Hitachi MAF is reliable, but can only last so long. i already feel like i am down on power, i have puffs of black /grey smoke all the symptoms of a faulty MAF.

its not showing up as a code, but then it might not have hit a tolerance level yet perhaps since i cleaned it.

i dunno...!

Just out of curiosity I have been out to my T2, I disconnected the Hitachi MAF. Started normally
and drove off. Moved away as normal on light throttle but when changed into 2nd gear it had no acceleration just pulled away slowly, it was drivable but as if the handbrake was on no miss firing just slow but no warning lights. pulled into the pub car park plugged it back in and off it went as normal. Just as an aside I have never heard or felt the turbo running or cutting in during my ownership, about 40000 miles . bri

interesting, so your MAF is working fine then. as soon as I get my exhaust fixed ill try it myself, but with the current MAF, it does feel to have less power, feels restricted especially up hill, flooring it doesnt help it doesnt go. with the other MAF, its just a bit better.

I can always hear the turbo on mine, but then i have really good hearing!

just a thought... why not post one of your Hitachi maf's to someone else running on Hitachi. they could test yours on there trucks.

at least it will confirm the maf's you have work or not.

The numbers on the maf i have here are 22680 2j200 AFH70-14

If this is the same as you are after and want to try it, either pop over or i could meet you for fuel cost.
