Default Hi guys and gals

hello to all,

i am currently taking my cherished Rover BRM off the road to spend obscene amounts of money on it to get it back to showroom condition.

in the mean time, i have found a 'seen better days' ford maverick 2.4GLX LWB. It hasnt cost me alot but its got loads of life left in it and ive never owned a 4x4 before so is going to be fun for me to be spending some time in one.

Cosmetically 'brick' has seen better days but is not beyond help. a cracked rear light, a cracked rear bumper light and a couple of scratches dealt with and he will be looking the nutz.

he has done 170k miles and has mot until october and tax until feb next year, and the guy im buying it off has just started his own business and has a tow truck now so 'brick' isnt wanted. the current owner of brick has fitted a new rad and fuel pump as apperently these are common faults on these 4x4's. the 4x4 selector is in full working order and all internal electrics are working so i dont think ive done to bad really!

anyway, on the hunt for some bits and bobs, so let me know if you here of any bits going spare as i will snap em up.

cheers, simon.

p.s some pics of 'emma' the BRM and 'brick' the maverick............

and this is emma.......

she is number 258 of a total build of 795, and with only 400 or so left in existance, they are becoming very very rare.

hithere, very nice indeed to both vehicles. Youre not wrong, those are quite rare indeed although there are a couple of cherished examples round my way (Huddersfield), glad to hear you are looking after it too!

good luck with the 4x4, they are fun and to me, unusual!

Hi Si, welcome to the Club

I have given you a free 3 months subs, hopefully that should see you through until you get your PayPal sorted

are we talking rover 25 or a maverick here??? lol

please dont forget, my 4x4 lingo is about as advanced as a 99p stores calculator.

my brm is essentially a rover 200vi, but with alot more toys. lowered 20mm, close ratio pg1 gearbox, lsd, 1.8vvc variable valved timing with free revs upto 7k rpm, 0-60 in around 6.1 seconds (i have new cams on mine).

they built the BRM 200 in homage to the days when rover developed the 1.8 turbine engine for sterling moss. all his cars were brooklands green with an orange snout.

i cant wait to get into the maverick though. ive seen a couple of terrano's around but no mavericks :-(

hi welcome.

the rover is neat, always wondered what the orange snout was about
but affraid to ask lol.

bro-in-law has an mg zr and thats one of the specials/limited runs.

160 bhp out of a 1.8 aint bad considering my 3.0tdi trol makes 158 ish!

and for the rover not that far of the benchmark 100bhp/litre to say
is natuarally asperated too.

sure you will find all the help needed with the mav here, ask away...
