new towbar needed
hi just rejoined, have sold my 1999 terrano and bought a 2005 lwb 2.7 .i need to fit a towbar but i remembered that i could never hitch on van without opening back door off car is there a towbar that sticks out further? and also can i just wire into harness at back off car with scotch locks or does this car have the new type wiring ? cambus i think its called ta peter

Hi Peter I could be wrong but as far as I'm aware they have the same wiring none of this silly electronic monitoring stuff. You better off making all connections inside the car, if you remove the boot trim on the passenger side you can get to the loom with all correct wires and I even think there's a handy hole just for this purpose. You can use scotch locks but they really aren't the best of connectors. The best solution is to solder but when I was looking on ebay last week someone was selling a brand new wiring kit which is simply plug and pray

I think you can get a standard 50mm ball with an extended neck, with this a spacer plate and the long bolt's you may have enough space to clear the spare wheel.

Have a 25mm alloy spacer on mine with alko ball and have no probs hooking up.
