Commonn faults on 3Ltr T2 - advice please?
Hi to all
I'm soon going to check out an '02 3ltr T2 auto, as a replacement for my trusty '96 2.7 - what faults should I look for? I know about the sticking problems with the two oil pressure switches, are there any other glitches with the Patrol engine or the auto gearbox? (iansjones/rayf3262/richie/terranoman - and any other 3ltr owners pse respond, if poss.) Rgds CL |

Thanks Ian. Where did you get your cruise? What was involved in fitting it? I'd love to fit one when I get a 3ltr. (or was it an pre market option I'm unaware of?)

Hi Zippy
Thanks for the come back. I've re-visited those links and will probably go for the Conrad Anderson, IF I get the 3ltr T2 I'm researching. Rgds CL |

I have a 53 reg 3ltr auto lwb sve. Had it since Oct 09.at 59k miles. So far no probs apart from the oil light, although the air con is inop at present but will get that sorted soon.It tows like a dream and I get around 24 mpg with 1600kg caravan plus the proverbial "kitchen sink". Taking it down to Spain in Aug. so may also have cruise control fitted. The auto-box for towing has proved to be much more versatile than I imagined i.e knock it out of o/d for hill descent, and hill climbing, into 2nd for steeper descents, and sport button to stay in gear longer for the hilly routes etc. Hope you get yours and it stays trouble free. Regards Mike.p |

If you have a leak, and it is thus open to the atmosphere, that's not good news as it will fill with moisture in the current climate!

Hi Mikep
Thanks for your encouraging response. Very interesting that you find the auto box versatile when towing. I'm looking for an auto but they are a rare animal, especially here in France. I recently found an '02 3ltr auto on French ebay at a fair (for France) price but it was snapped up before I could even view it! Still looking. Regards CL |

I can only assume when it doesnt work at all there is a leak,so I will have it looked at next week. Didnt think it important in winter until you mentioned the possibility of absorbing moisture into the system. Mike. |
