Am I missing the point or something ?
Hypothetical situation here.
Next doors computer broke , he is a carpenter and no good with computers. I spend 3 hours fixing it , getting rid of virus's and changing bad ram , stuff I had lying about so no cost to myself except time. I try to get him to hang a door for me and supply door and hinges ect , he tries to charge me for his time , would I be right in thinking he is taking the piss ? or am I missing the point ? Not the first time a similar thing has happened , just wondering why people don't considder it to be working just because I can sit down and drink tea while doing it ? |

Know the feeling, mate has had his shed concreted with some concrete that I had "left over" from a few jobs, about £800 quids worth. He was to spray and clean moss from my roof, still waiting. He had a loan of a cherry picker so it would have cost nothing for the use of that, only his time. Now it's probably going to cost to hire a cherry picker. Oh well, what goes around comes around.

bide your time, and when he asks you to have a look at his computer again, infect it with another virus (if that can be done) and then take great delight in telling him he needs a new computer, and serves him right the greedy git. lol

I sympathise with Darwin. Once spent a couple of hours "just showing" a mate how to refurbish his bathroom------he turned out to be absolutely DIY useless (didn't even have tools) and I finished up doing almost everything. Took nearly a week. Because I'm a wrinkly he seemed to think it would be occupational therapy and would keep me happy Couldn't back out because has wife is a good friend of my wife's. He must have felt a bit sensitive 'cos he brought six bottles of plonk and promised to take my wife and self out to dinner sometime soon. A year later------the dinner never happened but my wife used the plonk for cooking. |

You laugh, but my bro who lives in Ireland blags old PCs from the tip in his spare time, that he does up and sells, and you be stunned at some of the stuff he's found on people hard drives. LMAO
If you ever throw your PC away and you've got a digital camera (yes, I'm talking to YOU over there, taking a picture of your willie to send to your g/f!!!) put a hammer through the HDD in case your photographic exploits come back to haunt you! |
