All the running gear from a disco will go into a defender but the turbo set up on a 200TDi disco is different from a 200Tdi 90. So you either need to get all the bits from a dead 90 or there are conversion kits - its mainly the exhaust I think but there may be other bits that are different too.

been offered in the last 10 mins 2 defender 90's one is a comp tray back no engine or running gear 600
or standard 90 as above 400 are there any issues with tray backs ie chassis modified , its got mot and tax but seems odd to break it , unless they are tightening down on them |

If the chassis has been modified or shortened etc then it will need to go through an IVA if it hasn't already been through an SVA. Just changing the body type on top is fine its when people start cutting the chassis that DVLA get all twitchy.

Take 1 defender and to it add 1 nissan 2.7TDI engine - would need custom props making up and you'd no doubt need uprated driveshafts pretty soon on but would be damn good off roader - or better still add a sprinkling of troll in the form of engine, box and axles - awesome.

so you recon sell it on then, (putting the green oval jokes aside for now)
i dont know, i love the defender, looks, practicality, maintenance and parts availability with the 200tdi and a defender body and chassis i could have one for 550.00 and reasonable nick. ok it will be standard but i got a good off roader that will kick its ass off road anyway. but id have a nice defender 90 for the family truck and school run and it will be easy to keep and maintain and keep its value if not go up in value free motoring basicly i picked this up for a steal be a shame to waste the opportunity what bhp is the 200tdi what are they like for tugging etc |

That would be awesome You seem to dislike the same part of the green oval as me...the engine Always liked the basic look 90 & good standard clearance but just hate landy engines |

Nah - its not just the engines I dislike - its the gearboxes and axles too - why do they make em out of cheese - (says the man with a broken driveshaft).

Broke it three weeks back at Sibbertoft - just span a front wel scrabbling up a steep bank and it went bang - it really really went bang they heard it in the campsite. All still driving though so I had a look worked out what was wrong and went back to playing.
