what can I say that isn't said (idiotically) here:
"What is a 'Guzzle of 4x4 Drivers'? The Independent today posted the results of a competition for new collective nouns. One of them is: A guzzle of 4x4 drivers. As in: "The narrow road beside the school was entirely blocked by a guzzle of 4x4 drivers picking up their children." (Winner: Matthew Balmforth) Explaining further about 4x4 drivers, the Independent states,'These are today's latest villains, and many people are keen to pigeonhole them as self-satisfied, inconsiderate, and environmental polluters in the extreme.' 'The winning word, which was suggested by a considerable number of people, manages to combine punchy impact with a sense of profligate consumption. An arrogance of 4x4 drivers was the second most-popular term. Others included: a pollution; an emission; a carbonation; a choke; an annoyance; an infuriation; a belligerence; an indifference; a menace; a smog; a smugness; a self-justification; an aloof; an insolence; a bombast; an inconsideration; a burberry; a Chelsea (as in the tractor); a Clarkson (as in Jeremy); a school run (popular but a bit obvious). well ve've all joined the club and the CLUB.
personally think its jealousy, cos funny how they change their attitude if you offer to pull 'em out of a flood or hedge. everyone that gets in our soon to be 13 year old t2 think its great AND on a private plate but really is 96/P. Always say you too could have one from about a grand or so. mrs is a registered childminder, car is in her name and can fill all 6 passrnger seats with her customers' kids, all of whom enjoy the view from our economical 2.7 tdi tractor-bus. Our local school served by parents out of catchment area as is an church school though majority of parents are in sporty 2bys and still cant park for toffee!

A "superiority" of 4bys. I dont have delusiuons of granduer, my truck ( ok Mrs's )
really is:- SUPERIOR to some shopping trolley/hair dressers/slammed big exhaust piped bags of crap. Only thing I hanker for are bigger trucks, heavy trucks and buses, and owt else with BIG engine(s) like locomotives, aircraft and ships.

Tell me - I've endure a couple of very difficult and cold journeys n the A470 over the Brecon Beacons in the snow recently, made ten times longer by idiots who either think they can drive a car in conditions that even challenged 4wd but couldn't, or even worse, idiots who knew they couldn't but set out anyway!
Wonder if we need a collective noun for a group of anti-4x4 protestors? "Bunch of Idiots" springs to mind.... |
