Not really Jim that Lada is totally unrealistic and not worth a light, Rick

I have to say, I am amazed that the bearings didn't just die on the spot with the amount of twist from those spacers... it does say a lot that they could do all that with it.

You have to admire those old Lada's, it takes a lot to kill one.

My uncle ran a Taxi company back in the early 80's when Lada first came out over here, and he used them as their fleet of cars. He couldn't fault them, they ran up to silly mileage, minimum servicing, and cheap as chips... also being so agricultural in design, they always won when they were involved in minor shunts, and the insides could be hosed out if you had a bad passenger...

Making 4 of those spacers would have taken a lot of time & effort for something so pointless.
On the other hand they seemed to enjoy it & we were daft enough to watch.

I’m pretty sure they made the video as they do others for a laugh, certainly made me laugh and I didn’t take it as a serious project at all.

Thumbs up Wheel Spacers

And there's me always worrying about the 12 mm spaces on our SL to make E Class alloy wheels fit!

Back in the 1980's we used to be regulars at the Hednesford Raceway Track for the figure 8 oval racing Hot Rods, Banger Racing, usually ending up with the Destruction Derby.

They had an old Austin 1100 type vehicle that consisted of two front halves of a 1100 welded together !

Between races they had some bizzare entertainment events such as a bloke on roller skates being towed by a 3.0 litre Capri round the circuit who would jump over the Push me Pull me car parked on the circuit at crazy speed. How he ever landed without breaking a few bones I don't know.

Last time we went was about 10 years ago - methinks it is still a working track.
