Default What to expect, the 7 P's

Hello All
I've just joined this group.

Owner of 1998 black Terrano 3dr Salomon since 2014. it's got 114k on clock. Scruffy on the outside, but doesn't appear to have been off road much, if ever.
I use it as my main car, so it's on road most days when I'm home, I work away for a couple of weeks most months, sometimes longer.

It's had the major welding done, recently passed my third MOT with no major issues. Oil changed at each MOT, I don't do many miles in a year.

I'm starting to wonder what should I expect to start failing, I was thinking of putting it in for a service, change belts, change oil filter again, drained and replace coolant. . . . . . maybe an under spray.. . . .

Should I service alternator and starter, or are they long laster's. . . . .

Any advice for preparing for Terrano's old age, or tips in preventative maintenance would be most welcome

I have found these to be fairly reliable vehicles. Don't know if there is much benefit in changing out parts unless they are already giving trouble. Things don't tend to go suddenly leaving you stuck. I would keep an eye on the water pump though. They do tend to go every few years on some models.

Glow Plugs, Oil and Filter, Fuel Filter are the main ones to keep on top of.

Apart from that, a bit of grease on the steering stops or some Heavy Duty stops that I'm selling at the moment;

Keep an eye on the anti roll bar droplinks too, if you start getting a knocking on the front, it's probably going to be those

Hi
Thanks

So, just general good care should see me through.

I just had to tighten the belt that runs the alternator . . . . started screeching more yesterday. . . . 14mm socket and my trolly jack lever to apply tension.

I'll try adding picture of the "Tyrannosaurs". . . .

Excuse the ignorance but what's a Salomon? How does it differ from the standard Terrano? Does it have different trim or styling?

Default Salomon

Hi

Mine is a SWB 2 door (3 with boot) and has leather seating, electric windows and tinted windows (i think from factory)
It's a 2.7TDI, so it makes the swooshing noise . . . .

I found this page interesting:

I can't figure out how to add them, photo's are in my computer, but a URL would mean photo's are from a website. tried googling how to do it, but no joy..

Nice truck, the black and silver looks well as do the windows

Is that picture next to the logs in Wales by any chance? Looks very familiar, I'm sure we've stopped for lunch there before whilst out laning

Yes, out the moor lifting a few peats with Mum. . . . . west coast Scotland.

The Logs are in Scotland too, they were"harvesting" if that is the correct term. I pulled in to gather some fallen bark stripping for garden beds.
