Default Underseal

I want to paint the chassis of my truck, it's in quite good condition with some of the original black paint still here and there. Should I
1: jet wash then leave to fully dry
2: use wire brush to remove any excessive rust
3: paint on a rust killer type paint??????
4: then use a iron oxide ( red type paint) as undercoat??????????
5: then use a shiny black paint like Hammeright???????????
6: then when all this is dry spray everything underneath including all moving parts and nooks and crannies with a waxoil pruduct.

Dinitrol the whole truck, wire brush it and spray on. Do it in the summer when its dry and warm.. buy a kit off ebay or from the store. £125 for a large car but you will need a compressor.

My Jeep was quite rusty on the rear underside even though it turned out to be just surface rust rather than deep corrosion.
A mate where I work used the MB body repair treatment wax it's very much like Body Schulz and has to be sprayed on. Two years later it still looks Ok with no obvious peeling. I used Waxoyl on the remaining bits like brake hose unions etc.

Are you going to upload some pics of your Jeep ?

Wash away (high pressure) all the mud and crud, remove as much rust as possible, then wet again and treat everything with Fertan.

When dry, use underbody protection. Waxyol or similar, not hammerite, as hammerite does not flex at all and will crack very soon.

Better to do this job in summer when it is hot

Do you rinse Fertan off after it has dried? The instructions tell you to rinse it off before painting.

Yes, rinse and let properly dry without driving the car in the mean time, as the treated surface is vulnerable.

Everybody forgets to treat the inside too. Get as much mud out of the chassis rails with a pressure washer. You might have to make up a custom flexible end to push down the rails.

I would then temp block up as much holes as possible on the chassis and get a mix of waxoyl and used engine oil down the rails somehow. Dirty job.

Worth the effort though!!!!

I'm planning on really really going to town this summer on mine so will be formulating a plan soon. I certainly want to concentrate more on the inside of the chassis than I did last time!!!

As always it will be well documented with plenty pics

Just an old way of doing it, Don't need to put much is but seems to help penetrate into the rust.

I too have seen it used to great effect but also worried about the ecological side of things so wouldn't do it myself, the Waxoyl sticks and solidifies
