Well there goes a 33 year old clean licence.
49mph in a 40mph (dual carriageway business park) and gotcha! A little bit gutted but also feel lucky that the miles I drive that I've never been clicked before. |

Sometimes you just have to take it on the chin. Have they offered you the Speed Awareness course? It's actually a good course a timely reminder that perhaps we all need.

This chin can take it, the only downer is the number of muppets I see on a daily basis who are getting away with much worse. But there you go. |

And I have to say what real danger did you pose to the road as a whole, there is far too much put upon speed as a cause of accidents, lets face it it is not speed but poor driving, but speed is the easy option to pursue the driver with and it makes money too, gone are the days when you drove 10 miles to work and saw as many as 5 police vehicles on the road, not including the unmarked ones, now you can do 200 miles and not see one, we are going downhill sorry to say, Rick

Tough luck, it is daft, do you concentrate so much watching your speedo to keep within the limits, or keep your eyes and mind on the road, and creep marginally over and get nicked.......

Going on the course and reading the Highway Code is likely to be good. I like to think that I drive with common sense and this has kept the licence clean for so long. What I didn't know was that "the absence of speed signs indicates the road is restricted to 30mph. All other speed limits require repeater signs." I guess the little buggers are changing things to [s]generate revenues[/s] keep us on our toes. |

I was snapped by a traffic light camera a couple of years ago on a large roundabout with part time light control system. There was no traffic on the island but the lights were operating and I had not twigged that they had switched on.
Ironically the camera misread a Y in the VRM for a V and the ticket happened to be for another of the firms vehicle that I was also driving that day! I filled in the form to confirm I was the driver of the VRM on the ticket and viewed the video that showed a white Mercedes instead of a black one. I left the reply until the last possible day and pointed out that the ticket was for a black Merecedes that I had left parked up out of town and it was not white as per the video clip. Never heard another thing ! What were the chances of that me being the driver of the actual vehicle and the misread one ! It did teach me to be more observant in the future. Been driving cars for 51 years and just had one caution for exceeding the 50 mph temporary fuel crisis speed limit on the A38 back in 1973-4 period. |
