Adventure Overland show
Is anyone going to the show?
Or has anyone been on a previous year? Any good? Any bargains or discounts to be had? It's on the 26-27th September and there's camping. |

It's at Stratford racecourse.
I went last year as I wanted to meet a roof tent supplier. It was OK, lots of stands and lots of duplicated products and lots of Land Rovers. It's quite interesting as you get to see many of the products in the flesh. I'm not sure that there's too many product at discounted prices, everything I looked at was at list or at their DFS style constant discount price. I might go down an show off the barbecue & see if there's any interest in it. I was down on the Saturday last year and got to see everything in a couple of hours. I think there's entertainment and activities too, but I wasn't arsed about that. |

Cheers for that.
Still undecided it's more or less 400 mile round trip. And is there anything I really want... Apart from everything. Still got a couple of weeks. |

Good point, I've just had a look and it's 250 odd miles for me. I think I'd be more inclined to pop down if there were a few from here to make an event within an event. But I'm not too sure at the moment whether I'm working or not on the Saturday.

Might be worth putting the word "meet" in the title if you can edit it.
Otherwise here's the website for interested parties. http://www.adventureoverlandshow.net/ |

I went last year and going this year, we enjoyed it, we stay at a hotel and go to the show on Saturday then site seeing on Sunday just so the wife enjoys the weekend aswell. it's not bad, plenty to see but nothing like the scale of the landy shows, got talking to people last year, mostly very friendly and helpful. Lots of expensive cool stuff and some very cool overlanding trucks, Lots of land rovers and land cruisers. Worth going but wouldn't travel hundreds of miles if I'm honest.

After a bit of procrastination, I decided to go for the day. It's a bit bigger than last year but I'm still not sure if it's worth staying a weekend, I did find out that Tom, the organiser, is a bit flexible on the camping and is happy to accept one night campers on the Saturday night for a reduced cost.
There were a lot of bloody Land Rovers and very few Terranos. I'm reluctant to post this pic, I'm happy to do it if we promise not to show it to Alex. 10overland by Simon Carter, en Flickr And yes, it was towing a caravan thatwas significantly lower than the truck. I'd love a big overland truck. 11overland by Simon Carter, en Flickr But would be happy with one of these, they have a very nifty bed system. 8overland by Simon Carter, en Flickr It's a great little event, and the weather helps. |

I went today, to be honest I was very disappointed compared to last year. Think it should be made into a "4X4 and OVERLAND show" to get other stuff in there so its a general 4x4 show as there aren't many all make shows. See 5 patrols in total plus mine, 4 camped closely together near the exit from the car park, stopped to see if it was any of you guys but no one around.. Was a nice white gu2 for sale though. Took cash to buy stuff and bought it back again.

Was wanting to go but distance and needing money's for tyres, so not this time.
Good to see you boys went. Maybe next year I'll get it together and stay the weekend and take in some lanes. Bet the RAC had a field day with all those LR. |
