I got wood...

...A done this with it.
Inspired by various builds and with the objective of modding the inside of the Terrano for weekends away with the bike, I finally bit the bullet and went to B&Q yesterday.
After looking at 100s of photos and trying to get ideas, I thought the simplicity of this was perfect for what I am looking for.

I started with a single piece of 18mm exterior ply and worked out the cuts and went to B&Q with the plans and they cut everything except the angles for free (winner!).

Neighbour came to help with a circular saw to get the angles cut (more winner!).

The result is this.

Currently it's still a work in progress as it's not secured to the floor.
I need to cut and size the batons to ensure the kitchen and table slide out and are fitted with stabilzing legs.
The bed is to be remade as the chipboard is way too heavy to simply open up without major operations, but the idea is there.
the bed also acts as a cover to the space down the side so needs a hinge fitted to make lifting easier. That's where the new barbecue legs will be stored.
There is some finishing to be done around the rough edges and I'm likely to change the angled section for hidden screws/glue to give a tidier finish and will probably cover it with carpet when I get sick of the noise that the wood will make.

I'm well happy with it, and moreso because it's my first attempt at anything like this (I know, it's obvious if you look closely... ).

Looking good, Thats pretty much the same setup I will make if I keep my terrano but wider to allow 2 people to sleep.

Do you only use it after dark? or is that a comment on your cooking?

The coffin is there because of the middle row of seats and the bed needs to be lifted up.
The second is that storage is more useful under the bed than over.
I resent the comment about my cooking though, it has, however, reminded me that I need to start thinking about khazi arrangements...

Looking good mate, I'm progressing slowly with my boot build. I got a few more sliders for the bootbuild from the scrap bin today.

I'll need to get and have a look at some sliders in the flesh to see if I can make use of them for the bed (or something else).

A week of Le Tour has meant that no progress on the build until today. I spend the time looking at the box and thinking/dreaming/planning the next changes.
This is making the sliding of the cooking shelf and table easier.
Batons put in the floor area and cut to fit around the tables. wedges, blocks and a strip of wood are to be used to raise the base up by a couple of mm in order that the two tables slide easily, there's no need for drawer sliders at this stage.

A crude table leg been cut just to see how important it is. I would like to keep the table as cantilever to save weight, but the storage need weight on it for the cantilever to work.

Now I'm on the look out for someone with a router for the one part of the next adaptations.
I've also changed the design of the bed base and will be talking to a local plywood merchant who has a CNC machine to see if we can make what I'm planning.

I'm also waiting for a delivery from the USA for what might prove to be the most important piece of kit.
