Default Emily Moor Transmitter Mast

Anyone that lives in Yorkshire and can see Emily Moor TV Mast or Holmemoss Mast take a look this weekend. They are both illuminated with search lights, they look fantastic at the moment. Off up to Emily Moor tomorrow to take a closer look. This is all to do with the Tour De Yorkshire

I used to go to school with a girl called Emily Moor...

She was outstanding in her field.

We also had a Welsh guy, called Ivor Biggon... but we won't go there...

I can remember having a trip up to Holmemoss transmitter on my moped when I was 16,(1976) it's one of those places were if it's raining its cold and bleak, but if the sun is shining its stunning!

No chance of getting near holmemoss tonight or tomorrow with little cycle race charging up that hill basicall Yorkshire is shutdown almost over this weekend. I escaped early doors down to Waddington Airshow.

Briggie or Clivvy are the peeps with the photographers on here arent they

Default Emley Moor

Just been up almost to the foot of the mast but the small lanes were utter kayos. But managed to get these shots, my phone wouldn't capture everything in the dark including the search lights. Also the spelling is Emley Moor. Normally you get the red warning lights for aircraft as it's on the flight path for Leeds Bradford and occasionally the control room near the top. At the moment there are colour changing flood lights around the tower and the control room windows have flashing coloured lights too.

Apparently there's a text number so that you can select a colour yourself.

The mast has an interesting history as the original collapsed due to ice in the late 60's and replaced by the existing concrete structure which was heavily complained about but is now a listed building.

If I had stayed longer I might of got better photos but it was only my phone and the drivers were just so stupid I was not happy leaving the car for too long.
