Failed Spanish MOT
Well, the trusty old T2 failed it's ITV (Spanish MOT) - rear tyres and upper steering ball joint. I knew the front tyres would fail so I fitted new ones, rears looked to still have 1.5-2mm at the most worn part, going up to around 5mm at the outer edges so I thought they would be ok. not so.
Ball joint had at most 2mm of up and down play! Think the tester had it in for me! Had a pair of Bridgestone AT tyres fitted to front, Sempero (Spanish?) AT on the rear plus the ball joint, goodbye 525€ Well, at least I'm sorted for another year. |

Great that you got it through with so little work, just a shame tyres are so expensive.

Congrats on getting it through mate!!!!!! Living abroad would kill me if car parts were that expensive!!!!
I'd end up driving back to the UK and just stockpiling on spares for every eventuality

Did wonder about the pressures, trouble is, the recommended pressures only really apply to the tyres fitted when it left the factory, over the years I've found that different tyre manufacturers recommend different pressures, even though the tyre size remains the same.
On the upside of the failure, the replacing of the steering upper ball joint has transformed the steering - before it was heavy and creaky with the wheel jumping around on bumps, all that has gone now (probably the new tyres all round has helped to temporarily lighten the steering), but now the wheel doesn't move over bumps and the creaking has gone completely, so perhaps the ITV failure was a blessing in disguise.
