Lol I went to court about 5 years ago after incriminating myself and letting the guy in and saying that I'd been watching tv that day. Anyway went court and I just said that I'd been mistaken and that I had never watched tv on that set. It got adjourned and I got a letter weeks later saying no further charges
Must have cost them hundreds if not thousands to go thru all that with me, just to get thrown out if court and I still don't pay the licence |

Well, when they used to have dog licences, we had a black and white dog, because we thought the licence was cheaper...
Remember when you needed a separate licence for a car radio... .

Well done mate.
Apart from an old law there is no reason to buy a licence. The only thing it pays for is to fund the BBC which is owned by the government. Their excuse is that it stops them having to interrupt tv programmes with adverts when in fact its being used to fund other activities. Next time they knock on your door make sure you tell them that you are video recording them for your own safety. They wont show you any identification and wil walk away because they cannot legally justify why they are there. Also you can send them a letter telling them that you have withdrawn their implied right of access. Under this law they cannot bother you for another two years. This method worked in Australia after they had a mass refusal to pay and it was abolished. Power to the people. Anarchy works. |

TV licence / water rates
Call me a conformist (yeah OK I am a conformist) but I pay my licence fee so I can lawfully use a TV receiver to watch television it is not restricted to the BBC you need one to watch any live TV broadcast.
Its a bit like income tax dodging and people who do not have a current VEL displayed in there vehicle its us tax payers that are subsidising the tax dodgers and in a democracy we live by rules that everyone should abide by. If everyone paid then the cost could fall. I pay my water rates yet lots don't and it appears they do not get cut off for non payment if they have young kids. I do not think there is anything clever in avoiding paying a licence fee and it might be that they will pay another visit with a detector van or a warrant to enter. If you are happy to evade a TV licence fee why not go the whole hog and drive without car insurance its the thin end of the wedge we cannot be selective about laws we choose to obey. Just do the honest and decent thing like the majority of fee payers and stump up I for one do not want to subsidise you however indirectly. |

As for tax dodging... I work in the care sector which are involves caring for the elderly on end of life care on 12 hour shifts for minimum wage because the government says its a vocation rather than a career and people just accept this. So after work I have to fix a couple of cars on the side to make ends meet and feed my kids because im not eligible for the government benefits. . Also I pay my water rates because I believe I should. I'm paying for a service. The water company is collecting contaminated water, , cleaning it and pumping it to my house. This is worth paying for. My point is why should I be bullied into paying out for something that is not really necessary or needed. The government are just big time gangsters at the end of the day and will continue to prey on the sheeple. It's about time the people made a stand |
