No one can get the beggers off... Have you priced refurbished exchange? You don't want the same problem next week, next month, next year... It depends how long you intend to keep the vehicle for, if a few years, then refurb will be the best way to go. Probably best to strip the motor down, it might be obvious what the problem is. Alternator refurb places do refurbs on Starters, and will probably have the parts you need for a fraction of a complete unit. Starter motors that work all summer with no problems, then you experience a cold spell, and the starter motor and battery have to work harder to start the engine. Most starter and battery failures occur in the Autumn, then into the winter. Best regards, Rustic

I hope to run for the car for many years, so yeah ideally I want a new starter motor. I haven't really considered taking mine for refurb, I don't know anywhere around here that does it but I will look into it. Im hoping someone here will have a nearly new one perhaps...you never know!

I had to change my starter motor every 8-12 months, Soon mastered it. I think I went through 2-3 new starter motors.

Probably the same as what I had, But I did do a fair amount of wading which I think kills them quicker.

yeah I have seen the Milners ones. Turns out I need to get my existing one out first before anyone will confirm compatibility! Seems most starters advertised go to 2002, so not sure what happens after that hence why I am asking the sellers if it will fit (they don't know unless I get them part numbers!!)
grrrrr. |
