Clutch slip in4th and 5th
Hi again could someone please help me, Got a 2004 terrano 2.7 which had a new clutch last year but have noticed that the clutch slips in 3rd 4th and 5th gear when you give it the beans and revs over 4000 rpm but only does it some times and has only seemed to start to do it since the remap. I have noticed that the fluid is dark and starts to bite when the pedal is around 3/4 of the way up.

If the fluid is dark then you could have a collapsing slave cyl hose that is doing the same as resting your foot on the pedal, check under the motor that you can push the clutch arm into the slave cyl easily, if not change the hose, Rick

Hi thanks for the reply but don't know what you mean by pushing the arm in to the slave, is this to be done from under the car by hand ? also just had a quick look and can see a splitter with a short pipe going to the slave is this the pipe Nd also can see a pipe going to the back of the car what is that for ?

Any local Auto factors can supply and you will probably get one that only has an input pipe hole, if it has the balance pipe hole as well just screw in a bleed nipple, of the shelf from most factors, Rick

The pipe going to the rear was a damper pipe, that Nissan found was a cheap fix to overcome a problem with the clutch on a few vehicles.
Not knowing which vehicles would benefit from it, they fitted it to all, so like the appendix, following evolution, is no longer required in most applications, and like the appendix can give problems, ( corrosion causes leaks etc) so best cut it out. Best regards, Rustic
