Default tow bar drop brackets

guys i won a tow bar on ebay that i collect on saturday.
Iv been looking at other tow bars on rbay and the mounting brackets seem lower , the whole tow bar in fact looks set lower.. do the tow bars have some kind of drop bracket to lower the whole tow bar~?

brackets certainly differ slightly make to make.

mine is a witter and has a 4 stud arrangement
for the ball to mount to which are smaller threads
and not 2 x the 2 regular bolt on type.

I've noticed some bars are deeper where they join
the chassis and the cross bar hangs lower.

Ultimately the ball should be about 16 inch above the
ground but 4wds are typically higher to improve the
departure angle.

Depending the age of your truck the choice of brackets
reduces as after 1 Aug 98 or 's' reg it has to have eu approval.
This also impacts on the use of drop and slider plates.

Good place to have a look at regs is larger suppliers of
bars like towsure.

Default drop plates

have seen them on ebay but as rbrt says its all about e u approval.i ended up leaving the tow bar alone and lifting the drawbar hitch on my trailer as it was about 2"to low.

I would fit it and see what it actually looks like, even try your trailer or caravan. Personally I wish that mine was higher than it is cos it tends to ground when off road.
