Smile Cheap snorkel

What do you think, cost zero, had to do a few repairs this weekend, lucky I decided to strip the winch completely as was winching last Sunday with it underwater by a foot plus, filled the gearbox full of thick muddy crud, washed it all out and re-greased, must try not to do that in future, also had to change an alternator as making loads nasty noise, moved the coil pack to the rear engine bulkhead to try and keep it dry, and discovered three hidden drain hole in the distributor, trouble is they let muddy water in when level is above distributor, inside of distributor cap was coated with thin film of mud, holes blocked off and of course I now have a snorkel, on the down side went to adjust the Wife's rear brakes, only got as far as removing one drum, put it straight back on again, and will be ordering two cylinders and a set of shoes tomorrow, so all in all a busy weekend, but at least I am ready for Slindon next Sunday, Rick

aggressive off road tyres on wheels so just swap.
Aim to get stuck and be completely self sufficient in extraction, love getting muddy, 2ft deep is good but rare.

No we live in small converted stables, did live in the van for a few years but to be honest not to be recommended, hot in Summer condensation in winter, since we put in the wood burner in the stables our fuel use has dropped dramatically, Rick

Yes got original connected pipes that ended in off side engine bay rubber pipe fitted to that and bought into cab up by windscreen pillar, and I check all the pipes underneath regular as have knocked em off before, so coming weekend will see if the mods allow moderate wading, but clear water not so much a problem the soup at Slindon is aggressive, having stripped the alternator and winch I am amased the alternator survived with just a bad bearing, and I have two alternators and am now thinking the other one sounds a little noisy too, Rick
